Abrahamic Faiths Peacemaking Initiative

I woke up in the middle of the night, in pain from a knee that seems like it will never get better. I had fallen asleep with the TV on USA Network, so that is where I started when I decided that sleep wasn't coming back anytime soon. I was surprised to see a church service underway. It was a service, I would learn, in the Abrahamic Faith tradition, a service of Christians, Muslims and Jews emphasizing the common ground of the Three Great Religions and urging peaceful co-existence.

I enjoyed the service and am sorry that I have been unable to find the entire service online to see the part I missed.

The Times online has details about the Mumbai attackers in a story published today. You can read it here.

The election of Barrack Obama for President of the United States seems to be causing a great deal of optimism for progess and a new direction in the war on terror. A panel of former top international officials comment on President-elect Obama and Iran in a story from The Jerusalem Post here.

Recently I have been reading a lot about terrorism and the middle east. It seems like the number one non-economic threat to the United States. I ran across a great story on foreignaffairs.com by Philip H. Gordon. You can read it here. Also, this story in the New York Times about the Indian Muslim reaction to the Mumbai attacks makes me hopeful that a Muslim backlash against the terrorists may be beginning. You can read that story here.
