Slow day for Mathclub yesterday
Mathclub was only able to final table 3 tournaments yesterday. He spread out the success over three different sites as well: finishing 3rd of 411 in the 15k Guarantee Rebuy on FullTilt, 4th of 135 in the $1500 Guarantee Rebuy at UltimateBet, and finishing 4th of 144 in the 8k Guarantee on Bodog. These three tourneys paid MathClub more than $2500.00. Great job Sir. Keep it up.
Agriffrod finished 2nd of 612 in the FullTiltPoker $65,000 Guarantee, bringing in $13999.50. Nice cash sir and very well played.
Friend of the Blog and great guy SICKTIGHT311 made the final table at $3 tournament at PokerStars on 03-25-2008, bringing in $141.65 for finishing 6th out of 1349.

Final Table at UltimateBet!
I haven't been able to play as much as usual the past couple of weeks so it was nice to get to the Final Table in the $6.50 Bounty Tournament at UB. I really enjoy the bounty tournaments because it seems easier to get action with your good hands from the stacks who can double you up. The highlight of the evening was having two people call my all in pre-flop when I was dealt KK and then flopping quads! I took down a couple of bounties and entered the final table 5th in chips. I was able to increase my stack when Ak hit a King on the flop vs JJ. Unfortunately, the hand that crippled me was an all in w AKs pre-flop versus QQ. No help and I was soon out in 4th. A very nice payday and a great capper to a wonderful weekend.

WVU advances to the Sweet 16!
Congratulations to the Mountaineers for playing great and beating Duke yesterday 73-67. WVU got a great game from 6'2" guard Joe Mazzulla, who saw a lot of action due to a great adjustment by Coach Huggins early in the game and responded by scoring 13 points, dishing out 8 assists and pulling down 11 rebounds.
The Mountaineers got big offensive nights from Joe Alexander, who had 22 points to go with his 11 rebounds,
and Alex Ruoff, who had 17 points including several big shots in the second half.
Cam Thoroughman played a lot in the second half due to foul trouble for both Da'Sean Butler and Wellington Smith, and the 6-foot-7 freshman, who had 16 rebounds all season and postponed knee surgery to stay with the team in the tournament, grabbed two consecutive boards to keep one possession alivegot 4 big points and 4 crucial rebounds.
Good Luck next Thursday versus Xavier University.

Great game for WVU
The Mountaineers played great in the first round of the NCAA tournament last night versus Arizona. Even though the Wildcats were able to keep Joe Alexander from lighting up the scoreboard, WVU got big offensive numbers from two other starters.
Alex Ruoff Ruoff scored a team-high 21 points for West Virginia on an eight-of-11 performance from the field, including five three pointers in seven attempts.
Da'Sean Butler scored 19 points, pulled down seven rebounds and had three assists.
Darris Nichols also made some key three pointers and handled the Arizona pressure well. Next up for WVU is Duke. The Blue Devils made a late basket to stave off an upset bid by Belmont in the game immediately prior to the Mountaineers contest. Good luck to West Virginia in the 2nd round.

Great Sunday for the Wretched One
Wretchy showed his poker prowess isn't limited to hold em yesterday as he final tabled the $55r Pot Limit Omaha at PokerStars. He took down second for $8470.00.
Wretchy also made the final table of the $13,500 Guarantee (1r+1a) at FullTiltPoker on 03-16-2008. He took home $2095.25 for finishing 5th of 232. Another great day for the future World Series of Poker Champion.
Another couple friends had good days as well. Louiemdj final tabled the FullTiltPoker $9,500 KO Guarantee on 03-16-2008, bringing in $860.40 for 6 out of 956.
SICKTIGHT311 made the final table of the PokerStars Stud Tournament early this morning. Sicktight is making final tables all over the place in all forms of poker. The Wyoming East Warriors won their second straight AA State Championship Saturday. My high school is one of the schools that was consolidated to form Wyoming East. I've known one of the starters on the team since he was born so I am very happy for him.

A Great Career for Dale Jarrett comes to an end.
My favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Jarrett, ran his last points race yesterday. He ran it at Bristol. By coincidence, Bristol is the only track where I have watched a race and I was fortunate enough that Dale won that race. Dale was a great driver and a really classy guy. He was the 1999 NASCAR Champion, a three time winner of the Daytona 500 and two time winner of the Brickyard 400. He won the first NASCAR race I ever watched on TV and now will follow his dad Ned into the broadcast booth for ESPN. Thanks for many great years Dale. You will be missed.

Happy B Day Mathclub
Happy Birthday to the Kiwi King Mathclub. Hope it's a great one. Mathclub is a final table machine and a really good guy.
Another final table machine, Louiemdj, made 2 more final tables today. Congrats Louie and thanks for the rail man.
I made the money in one tourney at FullTilt and might have gone deeper but a pot for more than 20k in chips saw my QQ lose to KJ after a preflop raise and a huge pet on the flop by me. Of course a King on the turn sent me to the rail.

I really enjoy playing in the bounty tournaments on UltimateBet. Those tourneys always seem to draw a lot of players and remind me of the glory days of UB where each NLHE tourney at my buy in level attracted 400-500 players.
I had a good tournament right from the start when I was dealt JJ on the first hand. One of the limpers called the raise and a Jack hit on the flop and the turn was a full house. My opponent called with a pair of fours and a straight draw all the way through the river.
I was happy, not only because I played more aggressively and well, but because I finished 17th and won 3 bounties. The tournament only has a $3 +.30 + $1 bounty buy in but also has a $3k guarantee. So my total take of $22.50 plus the 3 bounties netted me almost 6 times my outlay.
Thanks to Sicktight311 for railing me and congrats to him for final tabling the $4.40PL Omaha [turbo] on PokerStars held 03-14-2008. He finished 7th out of 463 and took home $70.38 for great work. Well done sir.

A great day for the Mountaineers
WVU beat UConn in the second round of the Big East Men's Basketball Tournament today. Joe Alexander is a beast and the whole team played really well on defense and on the boards.
I finally broke my string of cashless tournments after a few frustrating days. I limped into the money in a $5.50 NLHE MTT on FullTiltPoker. I was actually pleased with my play tonight as I was much more aggressive in the hands I played. I did have a disconnect problem that cost me several rounds of blinds and antes.
I got my money in w AQ v 66 with slightly less than ten bbs after the 66 limped in. He hit a 6 on the flop and I was toast. I finished 27 of 270 so there wasn't much of a profit and it certainly wasn't a final table, but it was nice finishing in the money again.

Friends continue to Roll
Major runs through the tournaments again for Wretchy, Illnugwichee and Agriffrod last night.
Wretchy final tabled the Wretchy Open Rebuy, aka the PokerStars $22+R NL Hold'em, on 03-11-2008. He finished in 6th place (out of 369) scoring $1367.10. To avoid being redundant, I may have to only post about his results in this tourney when he wins it.

ILLNuGWichee took home $2070.00 from PokerStars for winning a $100+9 90 player sng.
Nuggy is a huge Indianapolis Colts fan and Peyton is a huge Nuggy fan as you can see.
Agriffrod won the PokerStars $109 NLHE [$25,000 guaranteed] on 03-11-2008. Griff won $12126.00 for beating out 563 opponents. Very impressive Griff!
Finally congrats to the West Virginia University Men's Basketball team for winning today's first round game vs Providence in the Big East Tournament and good luck in the second round vs UConn. Also, congrats to Joe Alexander (pictured below) for being named to the first team All Big East team.

Mathclub and Wretchy roll!
Congrats to Mathclub for taking down the $20+2 tourney on PartyPoker last night my time (he's in new zealand so i guess it was today his time). He scored a nice $1200 for the win, made a final table at AbsolutePoker where he finished 4th of 673, and also made the final table at Bodog where he took down 3rd place because AK ls less than AJ and A8 is less than A3 obv. Great job Mathclub. Very Well done.

Happy Birthday to the WacoKidd
Happy Birthday to a great player and even better dude Jared "TheWacoKidd" Hamby. I hope it is a great day for Waco and I imagine that there will be at least one social event with hot women present today. It certainly was a good evening last night for Waco as he made the final table at the Bodog Poker Open main event and took down 3rd place. While it was not the least bit surprising, it was impressive nonetheless. Well done sir.

Wretchy hits another couple of big Final Tables
Congrats to Dan "Wretchy" Martin
for making the final table of the $100+9rebuy on FullTiltPoker tonight after taking second place in the $320 tourney on PokerStars earlier in the day for $15,550. Starting the final table 8th of 9 players, Wretchy worked his way into the chiplead until his AQ lost to JJ and was eliminated in 5th place when his AT ran into AJ. Great job and a nice little cash of about $5,400.
I actually had a deep run at UB tonight, making it to the final two tables. I finished 17th of 337 in the $6.50 Bounty tournament. It was nice to get back into the money but I really would've liked to have made the final table.

After bubbling two final tables in big tourneys last night, Wretchy busted the bubble and made the final table of the $30+3rebuy on FullTilt. If not for a tough hand where his AJ ended up all in vs AK with 5 remaining, Wretchy may well have taken the title. He did end up with a fine fourth place finish for apprx $2500.00. Great job again for the Wretched one.
I, on the other hand, cannot cash in a tourney to save my life.

Thanks Brett Favre
It has been a pleasure watching Brett Favre play the game. His ability and his love for the game that really shows the reason why sports is such a big part of our lives for so many of us. I really wish more of today's pros had his attitude and showed the sheer love of the game they play.
Brett was a true campion and he will be missed. Congrats on a great career Brett from a Dallas Cowboys fan. See you in Canton in five years.

Congrats to a Illnugwichee!
The weekend has been pretty good to some of the members of the OT section of Pocketfives.com so far.
