The Mountaineers played great in the first round of the NCAA tournament last night versus Arizona. Even though the Wildcats were able to keep Joe Alexander from lighting up the scoreboard, WVU got big offensive numbers from two other starters.
Alex Ruoff Ruoff scored a team-high 21 points for West Virginia on an eight-of-11 performance from the field, including five three pointers in seven attempts.
Da'Sean Butler scored 19 points, pulled down seven rebounds and had three assists.
Darris Nichols also made some key three pointers and handled the Arizona pressure well. Next up for WVU is Duke. The Blue Devils made a late basket to stave off an upset bid by Belmont in the game immediately prior to the Mountaineers contest. Good luck to West Virginia in the 2nd round.
